How to Create a Study Group

Its simple - when you Register just click the box to indicate that you would like
to become part of a Study Group. Or, if you decide after you have become a
Member, either find a Group through a Post on your Forum or email us and we will do it for you.

We will automatically include you in a group that is studying for the same exam as you, i.e. PET, IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training. We believe that you need basic level of English to get the most benefit out of a Study Group and that is why we have not included KET students.

Then you will receive the names and email addresses of five other students who are also interested and it will be up to you to make contact with them.  As an example, you could use the following text in an email to them;

Hi, I have been given your email address by 1StopESL.I understand that you also want to join a Study Group for   (PET/IELTS).

My name is   (name)    and I live in  (city & country)    .  I   (study/work)  at  (place)  and am studying because  ( reason )

Tell them a little about yourself….

Where do I start?

1.                  Make contact with everyone in the group via email (or phone if you are in the same city)

2.                  Agree on a group Study Plan, i.e. agree on the categories that you will be studying such as;

Identify 5 (or 10?) exercises/documents from Grammar

Identify 5 (or 10?) exercises/documents from Vocabulary

Identify 5 (or 10?) exercises/documents from Writing

Identify 5 (or 10?) exercises/documents from Reading

(This is called your Study Plan)

3.                  Agree on times for completion of each part of the group Study Plan

4.                  Work your way through it in the order you have agreed and within the time you have agreed.

5.                  Share your answers, your results, your questions

6.                  Move on to the next group of exercises….repeat 2 – 6
